Kathryn Peretti-Frasier did not believe in giving up.
She hadn't always been a fighter, but that had changed for her in the last couple of years. Katie fought for what she wanted...without question, right? She wasn't sure anymore. Her husband, the one true love of her life had forcibly put her on the plane so that he could be alone with his precious Lily. "Fine Simon. You wanna be with the whiny wench, go for it. You're not going to have Katie Peretti to kick around anymore. I've had it."
As he looked around the room, he came to an unsettling conclusion - Katie's stuff was gone. It was like she didn't live there anymore. Snickers' cage was gone and so were all the little things she left lying around...her shoes, dresses and make-up. He began searching the suite for a clue as to where she had disappeared to and finally noticed the note on top of the dresser. He opened it and read it with shock.
Dear Simon - I'm sure that this will come as a great relief to you. I want a divorce. Our marriage was based on a need to keep you from being deported. Since you've made nice with Lucinda by helping her daughter, I'm sure that that won't be a problem anymore. Our reason for being together is gone so I'm setting you free. I hope that you and Princess Lily will be very happy together. - Sincerely, Katie Peretti.
Simon couldn't believe what he was reading. She'd left him! After all the things she had done to keep them together, she just left. He felt like he'd been hit in the gut. If there was one person that he had known he could count on, it was Katie. Now all that was gone.
He had to find her. They had unfinished business between them and he wasn't going let her just walk away from him.
Besides, working long hours trying to get the Tenney Designs off the ground was the only way to keep her mind off of her short and disastrous marriage. She missed Simon but her pride kept her from calling him. She knew he was back since the newspapers had splashed Holden and Luke's rescue across the front page. It was hard reading about how Simon had played an integral role in all of it. Just for precious, can't-take-care-of-herself Lily. "Think about something else Katie, anything. He doesn't love you and never will," she muttered as she opened the door to leave.
"Are you sure about that?"
Katie's head whipped up at the sound of the sexy Australian accent. "Simon, what are you doing here?"
"Something I should have done a long time ago." With a groan Simon pulled her tightly toward him and slammed the door shut. His hand moved under the short skirt of her dress and he felt her shiver as his fingers moved over the silky skin of her inner thigh. "I want you Katie, right now. I've waited too long to be with you like this."
"We can't do this Simon. We're getting a divor-" Katie shuddered as he began nibbling on her ear. She wanted this - to be with him completely.
"No, we're not. I won't let you leave me, Katie. We belong together," he said as took her face in his hands. "Before you, I didn't know that I could love so completely. But you changed all that. You made me believe again. Kathryn Frasier, I love you. Marrying you was the best thing that ever happened to me. You're smart, you're funny and you're beautiful. I may not deserve you, but that doesn't matter. I'll do whatever it takes to keep you."
Katie pulled back and looked at him. She wanted to believe him so much it hurt. The other part of her just couldn't accept it. "Simon, where did all this come from? Is it because Lily chose Holden over you again?"
"Lily has nothing to do with this. In Malta, all I could think of was getting back home and making love to you. And what do I come home to? An empty suite and a note saying you want a divorce. It wasn't quite the homecoming I had planned but it made me realize a few things. First, you are the only person who has always believed in me. You put me first in everything, even in trying to divorce me for heaven's sake. Second, these last few weeks without you have been absolutely miserable. I never knew what pain was before I read your note. Then Margo wouldn't tell me where you were and I thought I would never find you. That hurt, Katie, the thought of never seeing your smile or hearing you laugh. That's when I realized that I loved you. You mean more to me than Lily ever could."
With those words, Katie realized the truth. He did love her, manipulations, lies, schemes and all. "Oh God Simon, I love you too," she said as she wrapped her arms tightly around him. "I'm never going to let you go."
"That's alright by me because I'm never going to let you go either," he said, dipping his head down to gently kiss her lips. "Shall we continue this in the bedroom, Mrs. Frasier?"
