Title: Loving Someone Means Never Having to Say Goodbye

Chapter 1
Katie and Simon are enjoying a nice quiet evening in their Enchanted Cottage when they hear a knock at the door. Simon wants them to ignore it and get back to what they were doing. He wants to spend some time alone with his wife. He is sure the person will go away if they ignore them and don't answer the door. The person on the other side of the door is persistent and it doesn't seem like they are going to be leaving anytime soon. Katie gets up to open the door and is surprised to see her mom. They have not talked since Lyla tried to get her to annul her marriage to Simon. Katie invites Lyla in as Simon is straightening up the living room.
"Momma, what are you doing here? Your not here to try and convince me what a mistake my marriage is since you failed the last time, are you? Well, it won't work because Simon and I are finally happy now and I am not going to let you or anyone else try to break us up." Katie reluctantly invited her mom inside.
Lyla was nervous about this visit and only wanted to smooth things over with her youngest daughter. "Katie, I spoke to Margo and Craig and they filled me in on what has been going on with you and Simon since I left Oakdale. Margo said she has never seen you happier then when you and Simon renewed your vows. I am so sorry that I wasn't there for you on your wedding day. I was wrong about your marriage and I am only here because I want you back in my life. I have missed you."
Katie starts to cry because she has missed having her mom in her life. She wanted to pick up the phone so many times to tell her mom the news about her and Simon. She wanted her to know how much Simon really loves her and that they are married for real this time. Simon comes up behind Katie and wraps his arms around her. Katie leans into him knowing she is 'home'. Lyla sees the love in Simon's eyes as he looks at her daughter and she knows Katie has finally found peace. She has someone who loves her and will never leave her after she has endured a lifetime of goodbyes.
Katie chokes back the words she has wanted to say to her mom so many times over the past year and a half. "Momma, I have missed you so much. There were so many times I wanted to pick up the phone and tell you how I was doing. I just didn't think you would understand how I feel about Simon and that I couldn't let him walk out of my life. That is why I could never annul my marriage. Simon means the world to me and I hope you meant what you said. That you were wrong about my marriage and I hope you will stay in Oakdale long enough to get to know my husband."
"I plan to stick around Oakdale for awhile so I can spend time with all of my children.. Margo is having a family dinner tomorrow night and I hope the two of you will be there. Simon, I know this may not mean much coming from me, but welcome to the family." as Lyla walks up to him and extends her hand in welcoming him to their family.
Simon is touched by Lyla's words because he knows how much they mean to Katie. Lyla tells Katie she will call her in the morning about the dinner tomorrow night. She says she should be heading back to Tom and Margo's since it is getting late. Katie and Lyla hug good night and Simon walks Lyla out.
"Lyla, I want you to know that I love your daughter and I would never do anything to hurt her. We have been through so much this past year and it has only brought us closer. I hope you know that she will always be first in my life and I will always be there for her." as Simon lets Lyla know how much Katie means to him.
"Simon, I think I needed to hear that. Katie has never really recovered from losing her dad. I know some of the choices she has made have been because of it. Now, she has you in her life and I couldn't be happier for her." Lyla says as she leaves to head to her car and make the drive back into town.
Simon walks back into the house where Katie is sitting on the loveseat. She gets up to walk towards him when she feels a bit faint and sits back down. Simon rushes over to where Katie is sitting with concern written all over his face. Katie says she has been feeling a bit sick to her stomach for the past couple of days but she is sure it is nothing serious. She reassures him she will see a doctor in the morning if she is still feeling sick. All she wants to do right now is go upstairs to bed with Simon. They head upstairs both wondering what tomorrow will bring. Simon is scared that something could be seriously wrong with Katie. He doesn't want to lose the one person that means the most to him in this world. Katie, on the other hand, has an idea of why she is feeling sick but she doesn't want to tell him until she knows for sure. She thinks she may be pregnant and she doesn't exactly know how he will react to the news if the test results come back positive. She remembers how he reacted when he thought she was pregnant the last time. She hopes he will have a better reaction to the news if it turns out that she is pregnant.
