A couple days before Christmas

Lucy wants her dad to have a real Christmas this year. She recruits her Aunt Katie to help make Craig's suite feel like a home. The two along with Simon bring in the tree from outside while Craig is meeting with Cass. After Simon has puts the lights on, he tells them that he doesn't know the first thing about decorating. He has a little more shopping to do, so he's going to leave the decorating up to the girls. Katie asks him if he's gotten her gift yet. Simon tells her that she's just going to have to wait until Christmas or Santa is going to put her on his naughty list. Katie says "So what's so bad about that?" They both laugh and Simon promises her that he'll be back soon. They kiss and Simon finds it hard for himself to want to go but does.

As Katie and Lucy are putting ornaments up, Katie realizes that not everything is out. She goes to her bedroom closet and searches amongst boxes on the floor. She says to herself, "It's got to be here somewhere." She hears Lucy call from inside, "Come on Katie, I can't decorate this tree all by myself." Katie tells her, "Hang on, I'll be there in a minute." There's only one box left and it's stashed in the corner. She thinks that it has to be in here. Her face lights up because she has found the angel that she saved from last Christmas when they were living in the garage. Katie rushes in the living room and Lucy asks her if she found what she was looking for. Lucy has finished trimming the tree and all they need now is the star. Lucy gets Katie a chair so she can put the Angel up. They both look at it and say "Perfect". Lucy goes to Lucinda's so she can spend some time with her mom and Lucinda. Simon gets back and sees the tree. He looks at the star and smiles. Katie, fresh from taking a shower sees him and he tells her for her to change because he's taking her to dinner at the Mona Lisa. Katie gleefully squeals and finds a dress to change into. Craig comes home and notices that his livingroom has been transformed into a winter wonderland. Lucy comes home from Lucinda's. She calls out for her dad and he comes in. He tells her "Thank you honey" and gives her a hug.

Christmas morning

Katie and Simon are asleep in bed. They had a late night last night and have slept all morning. A door shuts and the noise wakes them up. They realize that Craig and Lucy have gone to Lucinda's for Christmas lunch. They're all going to later meet up at Margo's for Christmas dinner. Katie then realizes that it's Christmas. She tells Simon to get up, and pulls him into the living room. Simon says that he didn't find anything at the mall. Katie looks away disappointed and says "What?!" Simon then tells her "Oh wait a minute, I did find something after all." He gives her a gift bag and inside is a card. Katie opens it and the front says

"For my wife at Christmastime." She then reads what Simon wrote "Katie, you are my friend who stuck by me when I was at my lowest low, my lover whom has shown me what real love is and my guardian angel who looked out for me, when I least expected it. Thank you for opening my eyes to love for the first time. Merry Christmas, sweetheart.

Katie then opens the bag and finds a small treasure chest. She opens the box and sees a diamond heart shaped pendant. Simon tells her "Since we never had a regular engagement, I still wanted to give you a diamond. I thought of you when I saw this." Katie tells him that it's so beautiful and she'll never take it off. She then tells him "Well, I guess it's time for your gift."

She goes to the side of the tree and pulls out a big box. Simon opens it up and inside is a lasso and a cowboy hat. Katie tells him that when she first talked to him in the Lakeview Lounge, he had lassoed her in for good. The cowboy hat reminded her of him because he's always riding to the rescue of those he cares about. He really is one of the good guys. He loves the gift and kisses her passionately. Katie realizes they haven't eaten and goes to grab them some food

When she comes back she calls for Simon. He yells back "I'm in the bedroom." Katie enters the bedroom and sees Simon sitting up in bed under the covers with his cowboy hat and his bare chest. He motions for her to come to him and when she gets to the bed, she jumps on him and kisses him. She tells him "Keep the hat on!" As they are kissing, Simon wonders how much time they have. Katie tells him, that they got plenty and the celebration has just begun. Simon pulls her close and runs his fingers through her hair and tells her that he's the luckiest man on Oakdale. Katie giggles and tells him she's the luckiest woman on Earth.

They make love and the song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas plays. When the song finishes, we see them in sitting by the fireplace (Simon without his hat) in their robes having cocoa with marshmallows. Katie throws up a marshmallow and Simon catches it in his mouth. They laugh and finish their cocoa and head over to Margo's for dinner.
